Annex A

Salford Youth Partnership principles

Membership

Any organisations that work with young people or support the work of organisations that support young people can be members. All organisations must have a robust safeguarding policy* in place and any organisation delivering activities to young people must have all staff DBS checked.   

Shared purpose

The purpose of the partnership is to

  • Achieve the successful delivery of a quality youth provision for the children and young people in the Neighbourhood of East Salford

  • To make the best use of available resources, avoiding duplication of services and providing value for money. 

  • To ensure local priorities are considered throughout the delivery of youth work within the locality.

  • To bring together a number of partners to agree delivery of services that are most appropriate for the neighbourhood and fulfil local need.

Roles and responsibilities of the partnership

  1. Partners, where possible will attend the bi-monthly partnership meetings  
  2. Yearly meeting dates to be circulated by the Neighbourhood Team in good time.  
  3. Partners will be accountable for delivering actions outlines in notes of the meeting that are circulated and will bring appropriate updates. 
  4. Partners will be responsible for effectively communicating with each other. 
  5. Partners  will respect each other.  
  6. The partnership will be inclusive for new members. 
  7. Partners will make an effort to being the voice of the child and young people to partnership meetings. 
  8. Partners will support each other to develop quality services. 
  9. Partners will where possible share best practise and learning from their evaluation of projects 
  10. Partners, where requested, will review Devolved Budget applications at partnership meetings  and provide recommendations to the Devolved budget group. Subject to confidentiality. 
  11. Partners will review this partnership agreement / principles annually. 
  12. The meeting will take place on a bimonthly basis however meeting dates may be amended around school holiday periods.

Membership and Chairing

The meeting will be chaired by Salford City Council Youth Service or the Neighbourhood Manager although there may be occasions where other partners may be asked to assist with chairing the meeting. Notes from the meeting are taken by the Neighbourhood Management team and shared with attendees after meetings. 

Community Committees

Where community committees are taking place, an annual summary of the work of the task group will be shared with committee members. The Neighbourhood Management team will agree this update with attendees. This update could incorporate case studies from youth related schemes that have been funded via devolved budget.

DBS and Safeguarding Policy Declaration
As part of your membership you are required to provide a copy of your Safeguarding Policy. Please provide a copy of your Safeguarding Policy along with this form. If you require advice or support with Safeguarding Training and Policies please contact Salford CVS. As part of the membership, necessary staff and volunteers are required to have an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If you require advice or support with Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks please contact Salford CVS. By signing below, I confirm that our organisation has implemented a robust Safeguarding Policy and understands the importance of ensuring the safety and protection of the individuals we serve. We also confirm that DBS checks are conducted for our staff and volunteers as required.
Applying for Salford Youth Partner Membership
To apply for Salford Youth Partner Membership you must be a voluntary, community or not-for-profit organisation that provides activities or services for young people in Salford. You must also support our work and aims. Please confirm this below. (For guidance see Annex A).
