Goals and Missions on Family Hub Partnership
The Family Hub Programmes’ objective is to join up and enhance services delivered through transformed family hubs in local authority areas, ensuring all parents and carers can access the support they need when they need it. Through the programme, parents and carers should feel supported and empowered in caring for and nurturing their babies and children, ensuring they receive the best start in life. This in turn will improve health and education outcomes for babies and children and enable them to thrive in later life.
When delivering activities in a Family Hub, there are several criteria that should be considered to ensure they are appropriate and effective in meeting the needs of families. These criteria include:
- Relevance: Activities should be relevant to the needs and interests of families with children. It's important to consider the ages of the children, the cultural background of families, and the challenges they may be facing in their day-to-day lives.
- Accessibility: Activities should be accessible to all families, regardless of their background or circumstances. This means ensuring that activities are of no cost to beneficiaries, in an accessible location and timing, so that families can attend and participate.
- Inclusivity: Activities should be inclusive and welcoming to all families, regardless of their background, culture, or abilities. This means being mindful of the language and tone used, and providing appropriate accommodations for families with different needs.
- Engagement: Activities should be engaging and interactive, encouraging families to participate and get involved. This may involve incorporating games, arts and crafts, or other interactive elements into the activity.
- Educational value: Activities should have some educational value, helping to support child development and learning. This could involve incorporating literacy or numeracy elements, promoting social skills, or teaching practical skills such as cooking or budgeting.
- Evaluation: Activities should be regularly reviewed to ensure they are meeting the needs of families and achieving the desired outcomes. This could involve gathering feedback from families, monitoring attendance, or measuring changes in child development or family well-being. See page for formal reporting requirements.
By considering these criteria when delivering activities in a Family Hub, providers can ensure that they are effective in meeting the needs of families and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
In summary, the programme will:
- provide support to parents and carers so they are able to nurture their babies and children, improving health and education outcomes for all
- contribute to a reduction in inequalities in health and education outcomes for babies, children and families across England by ensuring that support provided is communicated to all parents and carers, including those who are hardest to reach and/or most in need of it
- build the evidence base for what works when it comes to improving health and education outcomes for babies, children and families in different delivery contexts
