Promoting effective safeguarding and duty of care starts with the culture an organisation creates and cultivates. This must be the foundation for what is expected, acceptable and not tolerated from anyone, regardless of their position or profile. It needs to be clear and transparent from the moment an employee is onboarded. Lessons from Institutional Safeguarding Failures | HL Safeguarding | Hunters Law LLP
Safeguarding Spotlight - Safer Recruitment
This year we have developed a Safeguarding Spotlight on Safer Recruitment training session to promote understanding of how to embed a robust safeguarding culture through all stages of recruitment. The training allows attendees to consider how to demonstrate their safeguarding culture through Job/Role Descriptions and adverts; how to select candidates at interview that demonstrate the right values; the diligence checks that organisations must carry out after interview including references, ID and DBS checks; and the ongoing opportunities for staff to discuss issues including low-level concerns.
Feedback from the session delivered in June includes:
“It was very informative, and really interesting. I liked how interactive it was, and really enjoyed all the training”
“Really relevant training that gave time for questions and sharing information throughout.”
Our next Safeguarding Spotlight on Safer Recruitment session will be delivered on 21st January 2026. You can register for a place here: Safeguarding Spotlight : Safer Recruitment training | Salford CVS.
