Inclusive Growth Analysis Unit

The Inclusive Growth Analysis Unit (IGAU) is hosted at the University of Manchester and funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. It aims to ensure that poverty reduction is firmly on the agenda in discussions about devolution and the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ and to identify evidence-based strategies to ensure that growth benefits marginalised people and neighbourhoods, rather than widening inequality.

The Unit is independent and is supported by a high-level advisory group comprising representatives of the public, private and voluntary sectors, convening key stakeholders around inclusive growth. It is working closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the new RSA Inclusive Growth Commission.
