Salford City Council has organised free firework shows since 1974 to reduce the numbers of private firework parties and help ease pressure on low-income families to purchase (often illegal) low cost, unsafe fireworks. The aim of these events is to reduce anti-social behaviour during the bonfire season by providing an exciting free, outdoor event attractive to, and safe for young people and families.
Always hugely popular with our local residents and communities, a total of 23,000 people (15,000 at Buile Hill Park and 8,000 at Irlam) attended the events in 2024. This year’s events are planned at Buile Hill Park in Weaste, on Saturday 1st November and Prince’s Park, Irlam on Sunday 2nd November. Once again the event at Buile Hill Park will include three firework displays as well as additional activities, perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
As the city’s flagship partnership events we work closely with GMP and GMFRS to provide safe events, but in order to be able to host these events, we are seeking support funding and I wondered if your organisation would be interested in support these events?
For a small contribution of £500 from partner organisations, we can deliver quality, safe events for our communities and provide a fun, low-cost night out for families during the ongoing cost of living crisis. The benefits of creating memorable events are enormous, life-saving and fun.
In return for your £500 contribution, we will highlight your organisations support for our events to our huge Salford audience. We’ll share our thanks for your contribution through social media posts and branding opportunities online, via our e-newsletter and on the night at the parks.
If you are able to support our events, please contact my colleague Dan Stribling, by emailing D.stribling@salford.gov.uk or call 07973 299 175.
