About Seldom Heard
Seldom Heard is an annual event bringing the young people of Salford in front of City Leaders. It is young person led, giving them the opportunity to be heard on their issues by those who are best placed to make change in Salford!
Salford CVS have been facilitating conversations with young people and City Leaders for a number of years now. The purpose of the event is to enable young people, who seldom have a voice in the city and little means of accessing the main city leaders, to meet with, and discuss with them their issues and what they would like to see to address them. It is a great opportunity for young people to meet with influential leaders in Salford, and have their views heard, and acted upon.
Previous pledges from Seldom Heard events have led to a change in history curriculums in Salford (to include information about pre-colonial African history), discussions about the inclusivity of PE kits in Salford schools, and BSL workshops being provided to community groups in Salford, to improve inclusive language used. Every year Salford's Youth Council choose an event theme. This year the theme has come from Child Friendly Salford.
Get involved
If you’d like to be involved in this year’s event, please do let us know. There is the opportunity for organisations to bring children and young people that they work with to the event to discuss this theme directly with Salford’s leaders.
We have limited spaces available, so please register your interest to be considered for the event.
