Happy Birthday Salford

The city of Salford turns 100 this year, and Walk the Plank celebrated with residents of all ages who share their birthday with the city, on 21st April.

Following an open call for nominations, seven individuals were surprised on their birthday: at school, at work and even in the supermarket! Each surprise moment featured live music (from Manchester Dhol players, Mr Wilson's Second Liners, Fat Cat Brass Band or a brass trio from BBC Philharmonic) dancing cupcakes (played by University of Salford dance students) and a 3m confetti-firing birthday cake! Walk the Plank even surprised commuters on the 11.31 train from Salford Crescent to Salford Central turning the journey into a birthday party for all.

Salford 100 celebrations continue with Walk the Plank's Wagon Train! Get involved with free, family-friendly activity in three Salford parks over bank holiday weekend, 23rd - 25th May including crafts, karaoke and live music.
