Wellbeing Champions in Care Homes

We are running a Volunteering in Care Homes project, which enables Care Homes to recruit and manage volunteers to assist the Activities Co-ordinator to provide social activities for their elderly residents.

The pilot project evolved from an initiative to support two care homes to recruit volunteers and as the initiative proved successful we are now expanding it across Salford.

We are looking for volunteers who want to help older people to have a good time and improve their quality of life.  All volunteers will be supported by our Volunteer Co-ordinator through our training and support programme.  Volunteers will learn new skills, meet new people and ultimately make a positive difference to people’s lives.

The project is managed by Salford Together through the Salford CVS Volunteering Co-ordinator for Care Homes.

Salford Together is a partnership between Salford City Council, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, and Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The alliance has developed an Integrated Care Programme for Older People in Salford. Part of this programme involves improving the quality of life for residents in care homes.
