Would you like to be involved in an exhibition at Salford Museum & Art Gallery?
We are excited to invite people from Salford to pick an object or artwork from the museum’s collection to be included in an exhibition marking the city’s centenary next year.
Project Overview
As part of the celebrations to mark 100 years since Salford was awarded city status, we are inviting 100 groups and individuals from across Salford to be involved in an exhibition at Salford Museum & Art Gallery in 2026.
100 selectors will be invited to choose 100 objects and artworks from the museum’s collection, which includes art, decorative arts and social history. The exhibition will showcase the participant’s selections alongside their own responses and stories.
To be eligible to take part you must live in Salford and be available to attend two sessions in August 2025.
The first session will introduce you to Salford Museum & Art Gallery, Your Salford 100, and the museum’s collection. You will then select a small number of objects or artworks – from lists compiled by the Collections Team – to see in the second session.
The second session will involve looking at and exploring these objects, before you select your final choice to be included in the exhibition.
We would also like you to write a short information label about your chosen object and why you have picked it. This can be done after the session.
