About the job

We are looking to recruit a Maintenance Worker who will support our Morning Star Hostel and Cornerstone Day Centre in Hulme. 

The Maintenance Worker will help to keep both projects in good repair by carrying out a range of general maintenance tasks, assessing the requirements of the job and purchasing materials. You must also be able to advise when a specialist contractor would be needed and be able to liaise with them. 

General maintenance tasks and checks could include: 

  • Redecoration / painting
  • Maintaining showers, sinks and WCs
  • Checking water temperatures and fire doors
  • Regular inspection of roof areas
  • Carrying out PAT testing of electrical appliances 

You will have good customer service skills and be a team player, communicating with team members, managers and contractors. Having an awareness of Health and Safety legislation and codes of practice as well as experience of general maintenance work and a willingness to undertake PAT testing training, if required, and other training. 

The hours of the role are 30 per week, to be worked between the core hours of Monday to Friday, between 8am – 5pm spread over 4 or 5 days. 

You must have the ability to work flexibly as there maybe occasional work outside of your normal working hours and work at other Caritas sites. You must also hold a full UK driving licence to carry out collections and deliveries using the Caritas van.
