Safeguarding Spotlight on Safer Recruitment

How robust is your current recruitment practice from a safeguarding perspective? Are you able to demonstrate to funders or commissioners that your organisation is compliant with best practice and current legislation? Are you confident that all your staff and volunteers share your organisation’s safeguarding ethos?

Promoting effective safeguarding and duty of care starts with the culture an organisation creates and cultivates. This must be the foundation for what is expected, acceptable and not tolerated from anyone, regardless of their position or profile. It needs to be clear and transparent from the moment an employee is onboarded. As part of our Safeguarding Spotlight series, we are offering a half-day Safer Recruitment course for managers and/or HR staff from VCSE organisations who are responsible for recruitment and HR functions that support staff and volunteers, and managers who are responsible for Safer Recruitment policies.

The session will cover how to embed Safer Recruitment practice through all elements of recruitment: creating a role description; advertising roles; interviews; ID and DBS checks; Induction/Probation; and ongoing supervision and support.

Our first session is on Wednesday 11th June, 9.30-1pm and will be delivered in-person at our Training Room at Salford CVS. You can register for this event here: Safeguarding Spotlight : Safer Recruitment training | Salford CVS.
