ESOL Hub Coordimator

We are currently recruiting for an ESOL Hub Coordinator to head up our new City Centre Hub, based in central Manchester. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to shape and develop the hub working with different partners. The focus of this project is to support people to increase their learning of English at a beginners level. We are specifically targeting Asylum Seeking people who live in hotels. 

What is Rainbow Haven? 

We are a small, well-respected and busy charity based in East Manchester. For over 20 years Rainbow Haven has provided a place of welcome, support and opportunity for asylum-seekers, refugees and other migrants.  Putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do, people with lived experience of migration are centrally involved, as service users, volunteers, staff members and trustees.  From its flagship information, advice and advocacy services to a range of wellbeing activities and classes, Rainbow Haven is there to support and empower people seeking to establish new lives in Manchester.

Summary 

To work as part of the Rainbow Haven team to lead, develop and manage the delivery of our City Centre ESOL Hub. This is a brand new project and is a real opportunity for someone to shape and develop a project. The City Centre ESOL hub is an accessible and welcoming space for all people, especially those who are at the beginning of their ESOL learning journey, where we will specifically target asylum seeking people. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To have general oversight of the project and ensure it is a safe space for all staff and visitors and that it is reflective of the values of Rainbow Haven and its partners. 

  1. Working with partners and key stakeholders to develop and deliver an ESOL Hub in Manchester City Centre.
  2. Building partnerships with potential key delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure that the project runs smoothly and new opportunities are developed accordingly.
  3. Support a small team of Volunteers to create a warm and welcoming environment at the ESOL hub.
  4. Manage the day-to-day finances of the ESOL Hub and ensuring all processes are followed accordingly, including petty cash transactions and reconciliations.
  5. Oversight of the operational budget for the ESOL Hub.
  6. Create and implement internal processes for the operational running of the ESOL Hub.
  7. Develop and implement a monitoring plan for the project, collating information as required and feedback to funders.  
  8. Work with our Volunteer Coordinator to develop a pathway for Volunteering opportunities at the hub and provide accurate monitoring to the Volunteer Coordinator as required.
  9. Work with the Chief Officer to identify new opportunities for the ESOL Hub supporting with future funding bids.

  1. Undertake other work and take on other responsibilities to meet the needs of the role and the organisation, in agreement with the manager.

Key skills and Competencies

  1. Strong leadership skills who is confident working on projects solo, and can make decisions based on evidence and experience.
  2. A solid communicator who can communicate in different formats with all stakeholders, including those with limited English
  3. A problem solver and the ability to take initiative and think creatively in situations.
  4. Can confidently use Microsoft Office programmes, including Excel, Word  and Outlook.
  5. Well organised and able to prioritise tasks.

Experience 

  1. Experience of developing and delivering projects within the VCSE sector.
  2. An understanding of the complexities people may have had who have experienced or are experiencing the Asylum system.
  3. Experience of building partnerships with different stakeholders. This includes funders, charities, voluntary organisations and service users.
  4. Experience of developing monitoring systems, implementing systems, and supplying feedback for funders.
