Accommodation Caseworker

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse. We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

Main purpose of the post:  
As a caseworker at Stockport Without Abuse, you will be based in refuge and responsible for providing high quality practical and emotional support to ensure individuals who have experienced domestic abuse have the foundations to live free from fear. This role incorporates: developing support and safety plans, appropriate signposting to local services, mental health support, financial and welfare advice, and rehousing assistance.

The successful candidate will have evidence of strong casework management skills, good written and verbal communication, and an understanding of the importance of maintaining professional boundaries. They will also have experience providing direct support to vulnerable individuals. Alongside, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to domestic violence including civil and criminal legislation and welfare rights will also be desirable.

You will be working collaboratively as part of a wider domestic abuse team at Stockport Without Abuse. It is essential for Refuge Caseworkers to work cohesively with IDVAs and Children Support Workers to develop a meaningful support plan for the individuals.
