This is an opportunity to join Taban's small and friendly team.
Started 6 years ago, Taban is a young charity providing personal and practical support to Farsi-speaking refugees and asylum seekers in and around Manchester. We guide clients new to the UK in accessing health, education, housing and other support services. As we get to know clients and they grow in confidence and trust, we work collaboratively with them to help them achieve their goals and build successful lives in the UK.
Taban has a growing base of financial support including grants from the Benefact Trust, National Lottery and the Manchester Council Communities Fund. We now need to add a new member to the team, managing our finances, reporting to funders and supporting other project initiatives.
The Role
To support our client-facing workers in the following ways:
Finance: Maintaining financial records, processing incoming and outgoing payments, monitoring and reconciling bank accounts, producing monthly finance reports and projections;
Client Reporting: Monitoring our log of client activities, producing monthly analysis and summaries of client and other data;
Reports to funders: Take responsibility for our reporting to funders, against agreed outcomes and indicators, and flagging to the team if we are off track.
IT and office systems: Helping to resolve office systems and IT issues, working with our IT provider.
Groups and Events: Helping to organise groups and events run by volunteers, managing our volunteer onboarding processes;
Other projects: Being on hand to help with other projects as they come up.
The Person
We are looking for someone with the following skills and attributes:
- First and foremost, someone who is well-organised, thorough and meets deadlines;
- With experience working with spreadsheets, compiling and analysing numbers and with office systems generally;
- Able to work well with the team and share their dedication to Taban’s aims;
- Need not be a Farsi-speaker, this would be a bonus;
- Experience in accounting also desirable but not essential.
