GP Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (GP IDVA)

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse. We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

Main purpose of the post: 

The role of the GP Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) will be part of Stockport Without Abuse Domestic Abuse in Health Team working alongside partner agencies to support victims of domestic abuse. The role of the GP IDVA is a multi-faceted role designed to provide training to practice teams and to work on the front line to provide face to face support for victims of domestic abuse. The purpose of the role is to improve the reach and response to victims of domestic abuse in general practice and to maximise their positive outcomes through improving their engagement with Safeguarding and the Police, reducing the likelihood of repeat victimisation. You will have skills in developing and delivering training, strong communication skills and experience of partnership working, as the role will involve maintaining effective multi-agency relationships and contribute to multiagency working.
