Since February 2025 we have been delivering training about Cuckooing, also known as Home Exploitation, to staff and volunteers from organisations that work with adults and children at risk of exploitation. Exploitation in the form of 'Cuckooing' also known as Home Takeover
An attendee at a recent training session wanted to start a local campaign to raise awareness of the signs and how to report it. A local knitting group was meeting at the same venue we were using for the training. Thus, the idea came to ask the group to knit or crochet cuckoos that could be left in community venues, like cafes, pubs, and libraries to get people talking about this issue.
Do you know a local knitting or crafts group that would like to get involved? We have a pattern for a knitted cuckoo that we can share and can also ask for donations of wool if needed.
Would you be interested in displaying a knitted cuckoo and some posters or leaflets in your venue?
