advice and support apprentice Arabic speaker

Purpose of the role:

Support Rainbow Haven to deliver generalist advice on a range of topics likely to include welfare and benefits, budgeting, debt and utiity bills, housing and homelessness, and basic information about asylum support and immigration.

Reporting to: Advice casework manager 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the provision of a welcoming drop-in service at Rainbow Haven as part of a team.
  • Help to triage access to the advice service; this means welcoming people who attend the drop-in and finding out basic information about their advice needs so that they can be directed to the right source of help – this might be one of our advice caseworkers or another organisation.
  • Liaise with colleagues to prioritise clients’ needs
  • Work as part of a team to manage appointment slots in a timely manner
  • Develop communication skills which may include working through volunteer interpreters and liaising with other service providers (statutory and non-statutory)
  • Using a client-centred approach, work towards empowering service users, encouraging clients to have active involvement and agency in the decisions that they take.

Over time, develop skills and confidence to take on casework, under supervision.
