BHA are seeking a passionate and motivated Community Engagement & Development Worker, committed to improving the sexual health outcomes for Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities.
You will be joining a friendly, creative, and dedicated collaborative team who are determined to reduce sexual health inequalities and challenge HIV related stigma and discrimination.
Overview of the area of work:
- Develop and deliver community engagement initiatives and sexual health promotion interventions.
- Raise awareness of sexual and reproductive health issues (via digital and community-based engagement).
- Ensure people from all communities can access HIV testing and other prevention tools so that no-one is left behind.
- Provide culturally appropriate information and advice suitable and accessible for a wide range of communities with complex needs aimed at improving knowledge, confidence and influencing behaviour.
Experience of working with marginalised communities and working in a health-related field would be advantageous to your application.
Knowledge and understanding of Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities and the issues faced by them regarding access to sexual health provision would be essential.
The delivery of the work takes a blended approach (digital and community based) so strong interpersonal and digital skills are essential.
Contract type: Fixed term until 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension subject to funding.
