Volunteer Opportunities

Supported Lodgings is one of Barnardo's responses to the lack of appropriate housing for young people leaving care in the Salford area.
Many young people leave care at the age of just 18 years old. Their experiences and the difficulties they face tell us that they are not ready to live on their own.
Supported lodgings aims to help young people move onto independant living. It gives young people the chance to develop practical skills and emotional stability they need to make the transition to adulthood and make a success of living independantly.
How it works...
Supported lodgings hoseholders rent a room in their home to a young person and give them the support, encouragement and guidance they need to the develope the skills and confidence to live independently. The young person lives alongside the household and shares the facilities.
