Volunteer Opportunities

Help Manchester Zoo restore some of its natural habitat, in addition to creating space for the construction of new enclosures! We need your help to remove an invasive, fast-growing plant species - Himalayan Balsam.
Getting there-
BY ROAD:
Two miles from junction 20 on the M62. Take the A627 (M) towards Oldham and leave at first junction and follow signs to Middleton.
BY RAIL:
The nearest rail station is Castleton. It is around ten minute away by bus (No. 17) or approximately 30 minutes to walk.
BY BUS:
The No. 17 bus service runs between Rochdale and Manchester Shudehill approximately every ten minutes and stops at the entrance. It is approximately a 30 minute journey.
-Toilet facilities, including disabled toilets, are available on site.
When?
All day. Please arrive at 10am.
What to bring?
-A packed lunch and water is essential – hot drinks and snacks will be provided.
-Please wear suitable outdoor clothing including sturdy walking boots/shoes/wellington boots. Make sure to bring items appropriate for the weather.
