Volunteer Opportunities
Session Facilitator
The Session Facilitator will generally lead the activity of the Sporting Memories club they are connected with, ensuring the smooth running of sessions and the club. This will usually involve planning activities for sessions and making sure that resources and equipment required are available for club members during the session.
Session Supporter
The session supporter will assist the Session Facilitator with the smooth running of the session and the club. This may include helping to set up the venue prior to the session starting, providing refreshments for all in attendance, helping to create activities and also sometimes taking lead of the sessions if the facilitator is unable to attend.
Session Contributor
This isn’t considered a formal role within a club, but if you are keen to support a session through creating activities such as quizzes, competitions or physical activity exercises or games, then you may wish to consider becoming a Session Contributor. This role will help the Session Facilitator and Session Supporter to create engaging sessions for all members through a range of different activities.
Communications Volunteer
This role is for those who enjoy writing stories and publicising their clubs, whether it be about club activity or club members with a special story. With support and guidance from the Communications Manager and Officer, this role will help promote the club in the region they are in through social media, local media and producing general content to be shared locally.
Our sessions are held once a week so are ideal if you would like a regular volunteering opportunity – our volunteers can be club facilitators or simply session supporters helping someone to lead the club.
Our volunteers love talking about their favourite teams, sporting greats or special sporting moments and engaging members to share their stories.
Volunteering with us is an opportunity to engage with people of all ages and backgrounds, especially older people – many of whom will be living with a condition such as dementia or low mood.
Our volunteers learn new and unique skills, through attending training sessions and while volunteering.
You will work as part of a small team – a great opportunity to meet and get to know new people.
You will have access to our learning zone where you can find out how to create fun and interactive sessions for your club.
This grid shows when you can volunteer for this opportunity.
