Volunteer Opportunities

Help visitors learn through our objects and activities. A super flexible volunteer role where you help our visitors get inspired!
You will be supporting the Public Programme team in the delivery of school holiday programmes and one-off events which will include meeting and greeting visitors, supporting the delivery of hands-on activities and audience participation, as well as offering general support to the team.
The Learning team deliver a year-round programme of inspiring events, shows and activities for schools, families, adults and community groups. This role will involve supporting this varied programme. You could find yourself helping visitors design their own rocket, inspire families to make a robot out of blue blocks, or explore the wonders of colour and light. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in family learning and community engagement, and an insight into the operations of the Learning team at the Science and Industry Museum. We inform, inspire and encourage learning on-site, as well as through outreach and online.
In this role you’ll be:
• Acting as an ambassador for the Learning team by being a welcoming, friendly face chatting to the public.
• Supporting the learning team in the delivery of the learning programme both on and offsite including hands-on activities, arts and crafts and mini Science experiments.
• Enhancing the overall visitor experience for all visitors by providing excellent customer service and promoting our offer to visitors at the museum or offsite location.
• Helping the Learning team deliver the operations of the programme including activity set up/down, and
monitoring/replenishing resources.
