Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Roles Available
• Volunteer Sports Youth Worker
• Volunteer Catering & Tuckshop Youth Worker
• Volunteer Music Youth Worker
• Volunteer Media Youth Worker
What volunteers will do:
Volunteers at Empower Youth Zones support young people aged 8–19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) in a safe, inclusive and youth led environment. Working alongside experienced youth work staff, volunteers help create positive sessions where young people feel welcomed, listened to and supported.
Depending on the role, volunteers may support sports activities, music and creative sessions, media projects, or food and tuckshop provision. Across all roles, volunteers work directly with young people, encouraging participation, building confidence and modelling positive behaviour.
Volunteers are not expected to lead sessions alone or manage behaviour independently. The focus is on relationship building, offering encouragement and helping young people make positive choices in a relaxed, informal setting.
All volunteers must follow Empower Youth Zones’ safeguarding policies, maintain professional boundaries and promote equality, respect and inclusion. Full induction, training and ongoing support are provided, and no previous youth work experience is required.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic community youth setting.

Relevant skills in sport, music, media or catering are welcome, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important. Volunteers can develop these skills through the role, with full training and support provided.
Before starting, all volunteers will complete Level 2 Safeguarding Working with Children training and will learn what it means to work safely, professionally and positively with young people in a youth work setting.
