What is Pride in Place?

Work is underway to enable communities to decide how £40 million of government-secured funding can be spent over the next 10 years as part of the Pride in Place programme, in one of the biggest regeneration schemes of its kind in Salford.

Last year, the government announced Pendleton and, Brookhouse and Peel Green would receive up to £20 million each, with Salford City Council providing direct support to enable communities to make their own decisions on how the funding is spent.

What is a Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board?

Pendleton and, Brookhouse and Peel Green will each have its own Neighbourhood Board. This is a group of people who live or work locally - plus local councillors and the MP.

The Board will:

  • Listen to the community
  • Decide what improvements matter most (based on community consultation)
  • Oversee how the funding is spent

The aim is to improve neighbourhoods by funding the things local people care about most.

The programme is shaped by:

  • local leaders
  • local priorities
  • local voices.

These Boards will:

  • bring residents and local groups together
  • listen to what people want
  • help plan and oversee local improvements.

We need local people to get involved

To make the most of this investment, we need local residents, people who work in the area, and anyone with a strong connection to Pendleton or Peel Green to help shape what happens next. Pride in Place is all about local voices leading the way - so your ideas, experiences and priorities will guide how the £20 million is spent in your neighbourhood. If you want to help and make a real difference where you live or work, we’d love you to get involved. If you live or work in Pendleton, or Brookhouse and Peel Green, and want to help shape the future of your neighbourhood, you can join the Board. We are also looking for someone from each area to become the Chair of the Board. We need someone who cares about their community and wants to help lead positive change.

Deadlines for applications are as follows:

Chair of the Board - 5pm on Sunday 17th May

Board Members - 5pm on Sunday 31st May

•    Help create an open, fair and welcoming process so everyone has the chance to get involved
Our role is to make sure the Boards truly reflect the communities they serve and that local voices are at the heart of every decision.
