Salford Crisis Fund Awards - Spring 2020

On 19th March 2020, we launched the Salford Crisis Fund offering a fast-track route for our member organisations to access up to £500 to address immediate urgent need arising from the Covid-19 emergency. Projects supported typically include the provision of phone / web-based support to those in need and doorstep drops of support packs (food, household items and activity packs) to communities of interest and/or discrete geographical communities.

This fund is supported through the Third Sector Fund supported by NHS Salford CCG.

Europia Europia COVID-19 Campaign £500.00 Online wellbeing resources for women including videos, reading materials and activity sheets. Also, include 3 x monthly online support sessions. Plus website resources for Polish call-back support service.
Flowhesion Foundation DEYK-BAHL (support and comfort) HOTLINE £500.00 Paying a professional call handler to deliver a total of 10 full hours per week giving over the phone advice, emotional support and guidance to women of Pakistani heritage in Irlam
Visit from the Stork Stork Social Support £500.00 Buying nappies, wipes, formula milk and other essential items requested directly by mums and providing care packages.
Citywall Emergency Online Mentoring £500.00 Remote mentoring for vulnerable young people in isolation.
New Beginnings Here 4 U £500.00 Provision of food and wellbeing support to those who have lost their jobs, become isolated or needed to self-isolate. Delivered in partnership with the Big Top Catering Company.
 
North Manchester Community Partnership Covid-19 Support £500.00 Paying for phone costs and fuel for volunteers supporting vulnerable and BME residents and migrant families in Salford. 
Community Support Centre COVID-19  Lunch Project £500.00 Provision of food, toiletries, sanitiser for vulnerable young women. Also phone credit and volunteer transport costs. 
Langworthy Cornerstone Cornerstone Food distribution  £500.00 Food purchase and delivery for isolated over 70's and ensuring medicinal needs are being met. Supporting around 20-30 beneficiaries.
Salford CAB Telephone service £500.00 Mobile phone purchases for conversion from face-to-face support to remote support to maintain services.

Manchester Junior Girls School Reading books for children in isolation £500.00 Purchase and delivery of 35 culturally appropriate activity books for children in need in the OJC.
Salford Womens Aid (IDASS) Extended helpline advice for victims of domestic abuse £500.00 Extended hours support for women experiencing DA/DV as well as emergency travel for court appearances and emergency lock changes.
TLC: Talk, Listen, Change Stay Home Safely £500.00 Counsellor time and supervision to meet rising demand on services from clients experiencing relationship difficulties.
Special Spirits Reaching out – saving lives £500.00 Purchase and delivery of books and craft activities for children with special needs.
Audacious Foundation Community Reach £500.00 Food parcels for 42 people struggling with issues of homelessness and the challenges of being in temporary accommodation.
African Rainbow Family ARF - Covid-19 Assist £500.00 Provision of food, household items and mobile phone top-ups for 10 people seeking asylum who are members of ARF.
St Clements Community Centre St Clements response to COVID 19 £360.00 Provision of food and household parcels and associated delivery costs. Plus phone-based support.

Talk About it Mate CIC Men’s Online Peer Support Groups £500.00 Online video conferencing software to adapt face to face meetings for men to talk. Resource packs to be emailed to participants with toolkit fo manging their wellbeing. Online awareness raising resources.
Binoh Emergency Crisis Advice and Support £480.00 Provision of a Financial Advice Service where qualified staff advise on Financial Literacy, Debt Management, Benefit Entitlements etc. to 70 households in the OJC.
CommUNITY Little Hulton Food support for Little Hulton £500.00 Food delivery service for 30- 50 residents in partnership with a local food retail business.
Being There Being There Listening Line £500.00 Telephone support service offering emotional support and to assess whether our 150 clients need additional support with food/care parcels.
Manchester Migrant Solidarity (MiSol) Misol-Covid-19 Assist £500.00 Food and household goodsfor people seeking asylum who are members of MMS. Also mobile phone top-up costs to reduce isolation and maintain contact.
Breath Champs CIC BreathChamps: Covid-19 response £494.00 Remote advice, support fo families with asthma. Online activities for children with asthma.
SARELI Salford Refugees Link Extension Support to Vulnerable Refugees £500.00 Weekly shopping and delivery of food and essential items for refugees including over 55's, those with disabilities and single parent families.
Daughters of Salford Salford Baby Bank £500.00 Baby care packages for families in need in the M5 or M6 postcode areas.
Women With Wings Pandemic Support £500.00 Provision of essential care packs for women on low income or awaiting benefit payments. Also, welfare calls and Skype group calls once a week to around 20 families.
Henshaws Society for Blind People Henshaws Covid-19 Response £500.00 Remote service for people with visual impairment in Salford. Includes telephone welfare checks,  telephone counselling, signpost to statutory services and the offer of digital assessments. 
Hamilton Davies Trust IT Training health & wellbeing £380.00 Basic IT support by phone, social media and supply educational videos for 30 isolated people.
The Federation of Jewish Services FED Covid Response £500.00 Offering welfare advice, support and information to vulnerable people. Also providing a shopping and medical supplies service to approximately 450 vulnerable people and families in Salford.
Jewish Volunteering Network Covid 19 Emergency Appeal £500.00 Undertaking background checks and providing training and support to volunteers who are in turn supporting vulnerable people in Salford.
Salford Loaves and Fishes Covid-19 Assistance £500.00 Provision of food vouchers and intermediary contact with Citizens Advice for issues that are causing distress or anxiety.
Dancing with Dementia Sunday Lunches £500.00 Provision of hot meals and essential items for members with dementia and their partners. Working in partnership with the local business Hug in a Mug.
START START Online Wellbeing Hub £500.00 Creation of online arts tutorials for our mental health service users to access through our online Wellbeing Hub and provision of virtual support to our 450 members in these unprecedented times.
Cadishead TARA Cadishead TARA- Covid Response £500.00 Undertaking daily welfare phone calls to all members of our Snack and Chat group (older women). Doorstep drops of books (for book club) and craft materials.
Home-Start Trafford Salford & Wigan Helping vulnerable families cope  £480.00 Creation of tailor-made activity packs for 24 families. Packs include arts and crafts, baking kits, books, chalks, etc. 
Jewish Action for Mental Health Supporting Jewish Mental Health £500.00 Running a helpline, taking calls from those anxious, stressed or depressed due to the crisis. Counselling or therapy session (up to 3 sessions where required). Supporting around 50 individuals over the next 10 to 15 weeks.
Jesus Foundation Family International Stay Home Happily and Healthily (SHHH) Project  £500.00 Doorstep drops of food parcels to vulnerable people. Pre-recorded English and Mathematics lessons and activity packs for 7-11 year olds. Also 'English Indoors' online language classes for refugees via ZOOM.
Glittery Laptops for disabled adults £500.00 Provision of refurbished laptops for those disabled adults to improve connection and reduce isolation. 
Community Kitchen (Manchester) Ltd Meals for isolated elderly people £500.00 Purchase and delivery of frozen kosher Hermolis meals for vulnerable elderly people.
Foundation Mama Christine Mongi Advice on prevention and crisis management £500.00 Phone-based information for migrants and their families (in community languages) relating to Covid-19 advice, accessing health care and employment. Purchase and delivery of food items and collecting prescriptions for people self-isolating.
Sovereign House GH Computer Learning Programme £500.00 Supporting 63 children with remote online IT classes for those with access to computers, and creating mobile apps for children with access to smartphones only.
Yemeni Community Association Helping Those in Need £500.00 Doorstep delivery of essential shopping items to households. Provide a phone-based companion service to keep in contact with those most vulnerable. Provision of weekly tailored homework to our 200 Arabic School students.
Cycling Projects- Pedal Away Pedal Away Covid-19 support £500.00 Providing free loans of bicycles to any NHS staff for commuting to and from their place of work. This will help staff avoid using public transport, whilst providing exercise for health and wellbeing.
Salford Community Relations Link Project Feed the Community  £500.00 Supporting 50 families from the Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi communities in Eccles with food parcels and prepared meals. 
Emmaus Salford Emmaus Salford Companions  £500.00 Provision of support for the weekly food bill for Community Home which houses 21 Companions who present with complex needs, all of whom were previously homeless.
Early Break 4-week ‘Wellbeing Activity Packs’ £500.00 Provision of sixty 4-week Wellbeing Activity Packs for children who struggle to verbally express their emotions whilst being supported in their session. 
Eccles Special Needs Stay and Play Keeping Our Young People Calm £500.00 Provision of a goodie bag of craft activities for 15 families, to keep our young people (many of whom have autism), happy and occupied during these uncertain times.
Arts Let Loose Creative Kits in the Community £500.00 Provision of a goodie bag of art and crafty activities for 100 children.
Salford Mens Group Mental Health Support  for Vulnerable Mental Health Service Users £350.00 Phone call service to group members, essential food shopping and delivery as required. Tablets for members who do not have the technology to interact with the group.
Everything Human Rights Community Group You and I Together £500.00 Provision of mobile phone, top ups and mobile data to be able to run phone and online service to support ethnic minorities and asylum seekers. Offering activity workshops for children and families. Essential travel costs for shopping or delivering items.
NSPCC Children Salford Transport Solution for Childline volunteers £500.00 Providing taxi fares for volunteer councillors to alleviate the fears of using public transport where there is no alternate transport available.
Yaran North West Building Bridges £500.00 Providing weekly online support and phone service for local Farsi speaking residents.
Caribbean & African Health Network Support for Caribbean & African Community £500.00 Providing tailored NHS/Public Health England and UK Government information into culturally appropriate resources and signposting to relevant services. Practical support where required including shopping and delivering food parcels.
Out There Supporting Families of Prisoners Supporting Families through COVID-19 £500.00 Providing telephone support and texting service. Zoom meetings with families and other agencies as well as activities for children and families. Food parcels and other essentials delivered where required.
Proud and Loud Arts 1-2-1 Support  £480.00 Provide support for members to get on-line and communicate with families to ensure that everyone in the group has access to the online workshops we will be running.
The Veterans Food CO Salford Community Cooking Programme £500.00 Providing freshly cooked food to the homeless shelters in Salford, for up to 100 people a day.
We are also providing cooked food to the pantries at St James in Higher Broughton and the Naz Centre on Great Clowes St.
Aguda North West  Aguda North West Covid 19 Response £500.00 Providing Art and craft care packages for single parent families in the Jewish community.
Headway Salford Covid Nuro Health Advice £500.00 Purchase a IPad so that we can provide 1:1 session to our members via phone or zoom to talk about their physical and mental health. Offer exercise sessions and emotional support.  When required will deliver food to people houses.
On the Out CIC On the Out CIC Prison Response  £500.00 Provided cheap phones for newly released prisoners, so they can keep in touch following a referral to temporary accommodation, essential food, as benefits are not yet in place and any essential travel expenses.
Provide our volunteers with protective masks and travel passes.
